ABOUT OUR OIL

What type of oil do we sell?

At the Ciudad de Jaén cooperative we produce Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) of the highest quality, obtained only through mechanical procedures and cold extraction. Collected in November from our own olive groves, under the certifications of Integrated Production, Protected Geographical Indication of Jaén and Organic.

What does “Extra Virgin” mean?

It means that the oil is a natural olive juice, obtained without any type of chemical additive, without defects and with excellent organoleptic properties: aroma, flavor and freshness. Rich in antioxidants and phenolic compounds.

What variety of olive do we use?

Our oil is mainly made with Picual variety olives, characteristic of Jaén, known for its intensity, stability and high antioxidant content, but we also make with the Arbequina variety with a bitter and spicy undertone as well as accentuated fruit notes.

What is the difference between early harvest and traditional oil?

The early harvest, as its name suggests, is harvested early, before the fruit has matured sufficiently, that is, with green fruits. This results in a very aromatic and tasty oil, which is why it should be enjoyed cold. However, traditional oil is harvested when the fruit is at its optimal level of ripeness, mainly during veraison. It is still an aromatic and tasty oil, but with fewer nuances, so it can be used both cold and for cooking. You will get healthier and tastier dishes than if you use other types of oils.

How should I store the oil?

We recommend storing it in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and heat to keep its properties intact.

What is the best before date?

All our products include a best before date on the packaging. Although the oil does not “expire” like other foods, we recommend consuming it within the indicated period to enjoy all its qualities.

Orders and shipments

How long does it take for my order to arrive?

Orders are usually delivered within 48/72 working hours in the Peninsula. This period is estimated and is determined by the transport agency, so it may be affected by logistical incidents beyond our control. We work to ensure that your order arrives as soon as possible and in perfect condition.

Do you ship to all of Spain?

Yes, we ship to the entire Peninsula. For other destinations, you can contact us before placing your order.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs are automatically calculated during the purchasing process based on the destination and order volume.

Do you have free shipping?

Yes. We have free shipping promotions for certain orders or quantities. Check the active conditions in the online store.

How do I know where my order is?

Once your order is shipped, you will receive tracking information so you can check the delivery status.

What happens if my order arrives damaged?

It is important that you check the package before signing the carrier's delivery sheet. If you notice damage to the package or product, make a note on the carrier's delivery sheet. This is very important, so that the transport company assumes its responsibility and we can proceed with the return. Then contact us as soon as possible and we will help you solve it.
